Personal Hermitage Productions (PHP) produces independent documentary films and installations on social justice issues as well as video shorts for clients. The director of PHP has over 20 years of experience creating and distributing a range of media. PHP also offers screenings and workshops in media literacy, media activism, video production, social media, online journalism and curriculum-based topics.

Salome Chasnoff, PHP’s director, is an award-winning filmmaker, installation artist and media activist. Prior to working in video, Salome was a theatre artist who used film, video, and photography in her live performances. She is also the founder of the nonprofit Beyondmedia Education, whose mission is to collaborate with under-served and under-represented women, youth and communities to tell their stories, connect their stories to the world around us, and organize for social justice through the creation and distribution of media arts.

Salome has an M.A. in Theatre and Performance and a Ph.D. in Performance Studies from Northwestern University. She has been an arts educator for more than 25 years in university and community settings and has produced more than 30 works, many focused on the stories of women and youth. She is a lecturer in the Art Education department at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and a visiting faculty member of the Vermont College of Fine Arts.
